#7 Communication Tools

I have had a hotmail account for well over 10 years now. It has grown by leaps and bounds sinces I first started using it. I can now store and share files, use the calendar and do plenty with just the e-mail. We currently use microsoft outlook for our school e-mail and I really enjoy that too. I use the outlook calendars for almost everything I do. I just wish I could share the outlook calendar with my hotmail calendar.

#6 Image Creators

ImageChef.com - Custom comment codes for MySpace, Hi5, Friendster and more

This is really neat. I really hope we can use some of these tools to create publicity items for our summer and afterschool programs. There are a few things like this that I have used on ReadWriteThink.org. There are some very fun tools there too.

Spell with flickr. The kids would love this one. I will have to try it.

Flickr Photo #5

The picture that was already on my blog is the one that I added to Flickr. I just saved the image and loaded it on to flickr. I wonder if we could use flickr to share photos from classrooms? It would be nice if teachers could share the photos of their individual classrooms without opening them to everyone. If they could create users and passwords for their classes or parents and change them easily it might be possible. I do know that their are many students that have not agreed to picture releases so that may make it a little tricky. I wonder what our policy would have to say about things like this? Perhaps teachers could use flickr to give students a better idea of subjects by gathering photos for examples to use with different subjects. I may have to do some more hunting to see how easy it is to gather and organize photos others have added. I also do not feel I would use this to share my own photos. I currently use face book and like being able to add and share photos their. It's nice to be able to control who can see what very quickly and easily in a program that already has your friends listed.

Flickr #4

Boy this one slowed me down. Just didn't have the interest to do it. I have done many things with online photo storage and a little with sharing. Guess I just wasn't interested in sharing the photos online. I also am not very patient when it comes to waiting for uploads and it seems to take forever with a few of these websites.

RSS Feeds #3

Not sure about the RSS feeds. It took me awhile to figure them out although I added 16 of them. I am looking forward to getting all my news in one location. I am using bloglines.
From sports to news to work, I hope this will help me keep up on things without visiting 20 pages. I would love to pick up a few more work related feeds though. If anyone knows of some good ones for elementary teachers or media specialists, please let me know.

Now that I have used the RSS feeds for a week I absolutely love them. It makes it so much easier to keep up on things. I love how I can see what's happening with other blogs, check out the latest local news, and check out the latest news on my favorite sports teams. I would still like to add a few more educational sites to my list though.

Where will you find the time? #2

It's been over two weeks since I even looked at this blog. So I guess I will fit it in where I can. Am I justified in spending some of my work time learning about the 2.0 tools? I would think so, but I haven't figured out where to fit it in there either. Just too many things to do. It was interesting to hear Stephen talk about making learning the 2.0 tools a priority, and because it becomes a priority, then the time will present itself. It's hard to make it a priority with all the other responsibilities a person seems to have these days. I think back to the days when I was single, without a child and had all the time in the world to do whatever I wanted. Boy, kids sure change the way you prioritize things.
